~ Active April ~

It’s the beginning of the April and guilty as charged that we always promise ourselves that we WILL be more motivated and we WILL get out and do something for ourselves this month.

Well you now have a list of things that YOU can do to get your bodies moving.
Try something new, activate different muscles, move your bodies in a way that it doesn’t feel like exercise, it is enjoyable.

So despite the extremely corny ‘Active April’ title, here is a little list of things you deserve to do for yourself.
They are all low cost, extremely fun and always are benefiting YOURSELF.

APRIL: 

Pilates Class at Gravity Dance School- Thursdays (24 March to 14 April):
7.15-8.15

Well here we go a free class- you have no excuse to give a Pilates class a go.
Take your friends, grab a mat and move your bodies in a way that is helping yourself and you can enjoy.
Words from gravity Dance School is- ‘Do something wonderful for yourself’.

Honestly there is no reason why you shouldn’t go and give it a go- Pilates is a low resistance form of exercise that tones and shapes your bodies. Plus the classes are for beginners and intermediates which is another reason to get moving.

Grab a friend and attend a class this month, I am sure it will have been on most peoples ‘to do’ lists.

F45- Henley beach Launch- Saturday the 9th

7, 8 or 9 am sessions availble to purchase.

F45 is a new and improved way to move your body.
The studios are set up in circuit style and you are given 45 minutes to smash out an amazing workout.

They are high intensity workouts that push your body and mind whilst engaging in a team environment.

Some people find time limits with people pushing you to your extremes and making you word hard the most beneficial. F45 sounds like your answer. It is essentially your own workout however you have others encouraging you PLUS you have a structured program all ready to go.

Head down the grand opening of the Henley beach location. There will be a live DJ to create even more of an energetic atmosphere.

Heirloom Weekend- Botanical Gardens: Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th
10-3 pm

This event did get me a little excited, and may have made me count down the days until the weekend.

How adorable is this idea:

A two day event that to celebrate all the fresh, natural and homegrown products that nourish our bodies (amazing).
The two days will consist of:

– Free workshops and information: Learn how to veggie garden in autumn, grow garlic and preserve your harvest, plus get info on becoming an urban beekeeper and raising chickens at home.

– Heirloom Masterclasses: (must be pre-booked: http://ow.ly/106DFd) – “Talking Heirlooms” on the history and importance of heirlooms; and “Heritage Apples” on selection, growing and rootstock selection for heritage apples, pears, nashis and quinces.
– We also have fresh produce for sale, PLUS a pumpkin competition (bring your own home grown pumpkin on the Sunday).

It will be the perfect event to bring your family with kids activities (10am-3pm) along with live music.

What a perfect way to spend your Saturday or Sunday.

Heirloom Weekend

Conquer the Summit (Mt Barker Fun Run)-  Sunday 10th April
8am 

Not a bad way to spend your family Sunday time.
You have two choices of how to battle the fun run; you can either Conquer the Summit (approx. 11km) or the shorter Family Fun Run which is only 5km.

Not to mention there is also prizes for each category, and if you’re anything like me you can’t skip the opportunity to enter competitions.

You will be feeling physically great PLUS the ‘Fun Run’ is also a Fundraising event for Operation Flinders (a real direction for young people at risk) therefore you can give yourself two pats on the back!

The perfect saturday has been planned for you- a morning full of flowing yoga, mindfulness chats and vegan food followed by a FREE event to answer all those little or big questions that you have.

And to be honest it is just an added reason to visit the Bliss Organic Cafe which has mouth watering food (there will be a future post with in depth details about this gem).

Saturday March 19th- 7am: 2016 Adelaide Memory walk & Jog

This weekend in March is a health and active heaven. If your up for some fundraising and supporting Alzheimer’s Australia raise money for dementia the Memory Walk and Jog is your active destination.

There are 7,6 and 3 km options whether you decide to walk or jog/run.
PLUS prizes for each category- check out the Facebook link to have a good squizz.

Help them raise their goal of $50 000- organise a group of walkers or joggers together and get moving  + helping a great cause!

Sunday March 20th- Bay to city fun run: 7am- whenever you decide to conquer it

Every year the city to bay comes around and we all chuck on our runners and walk or run the 3,6 or 12 km. Some people are ridiculously speedy and train for this amazing event, however it does cater for all fitness levels. BUT we dont have to wait until september to get our bodies seriously moving on a sunday morning, in a matter of weeks we have the Bay to city. With two distances 12 and 4.5km

With two distances 12 and 4.5km, you get a free medal at the end, PLUS a perfect excuse to get up and moving on a lovely sunday morning.

Sunday March 27th 9:30am-1pm: YOGA, QI GONG/TAI CHI (FREE 1/2 Day Mindfulness Movements + Meditation)

March is full of wellness events- it’s so exciting!

Breathe in Peace Adelaide has blessed us with half a day of Yoga, plus an intermission featuring martial arts performances by JDK followed with Qi Qong/Tai Chi, Heart meditation and finally closing with Sundar (TBC). Which will take you all through some deep, soothing, reflective music/meditation/chants.

Monday’s in March 12:30-1pm: Mitise Health’s Yoga in the Square

I am giving everyone an excuse to get up and about this March and it doesn’t necessarily mean waiting for the weekend. 

Every monday yogi Steph brings you strength and flexibility with FREE 30 minute lunch time yoga- yay! 

Make a little change on Mondays this month, do something you have always wanted to do. If yoga is on your list I now have the perfect FREE excuse.

Well hey i’m sold- this is enough to put a smile on my face and get up and feeling determined to conquer all my fitness and wellbeing expeditions. 

The amazing store in the city located on James place has two classes you can attend weekly throughout March for FREE.

Could they be anymore supportive of all individuals out there to create a healthier life change? I think not- surround yourself in an environment that is uplifting and leave these classes wanting to make change or maintain your health goals.
